Club Statement – Monday 16th August

Club News, Covid Updates | 16th Aug 2021

It has come to our attention that a player from within the club and 2 players from Saturdays tournament (14th Aug) have returned a positive lateral flow test and are now seeking PCR test results.

As a result we are working with the Dumfries and Galloway Council, SRU and Test and Protect on appropriate action required by the Club.

The Rugby Club building will be closed until tomorrow afternoon. Dumfries and Galloway Council will be sending in the anti-virus fogging machine in the morning before their planned S1/S2 transition event.

All club activity for the affected age groups are suspended until further notice and will be communicated directly with those age groups.

If you were present on Saturday the club would encourage you to take a Lateral Flow test and follow the protocols in place for your specific situation.

Stay safe.

STEWARTRY RUGBY CLUB

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY 18TH

Our Covid response group have met over zoom to discuss the issues surrounding the covid cases leading from the event. So far we still only have 2 positive cases from our playing groups, one from a visiting team and 2 cases from spectators who attended the event. One person who attended the event has been identified as a close contact and is now isolating.

We have suspended rugby for the U18 group and the Sirens group as these are the only two teams that were in contact with the cases. Working with Test and Protect they have indicated that because of the nature of the event (all outdoors and with all safety protocols in place) they don’t feel anyone who was playing or spectating will be at risk from the event.

We will continue working with Test and Protect, Scottish Rugby and Dumfries and Galloway Council to ensure the safety of our community.
