More Than Rugby

Academy (S1-S6), Club News | 28th Feb 2021

The purpose of  our “More Than Rugby” program is to support our players aspiring to Be Healthier, Be Stronger and Be Resilient.

Stewartry RFC “More Than Rugby” has been in development prior to Covid but become a priority this season after all rugby activity halting at the club due to restrictions.

The program identifies players based not on their ability but more importantly on their attitude and commitment.

Currently supporting 40 players across our Boys and Girls  sections, we provide a support network consisting of Mental Skills and Wellbeing Development, Strength & Conditioning, and Nutritional support.
Players, supported by the coaches and our Development Officer, set goals and targets based around their own development plan and work on these goals.
We are proud to have so many young athletes invested in the program in its first year and under the current circumstances.

The classes are ran online, where players log in from home and complete challenges, do workouts or have conversations with coaches and external partners on each topic.

We are working in Partnership with CrossFit Castle Douglas, Breathing Space and Dumfries and Galloway Council to deliver this program now and in the future.
